?you Are What You Eat?
(Gillian McKeith)
Thanks to her easy-going personality and undeniable professionalism, Dr. Gillian McKeith has recently achieved a well-established popularity on an international level. Her method is based on making people self-conscious of their bad habits, and on giving them a sense of confidence which increases their determination to face one of the most common fights in our everyday life: the weight loss.McKeith's book is made of different sections, each dealing an aspect of her program. As in her TV series, she analyzes different cases, mainly focusing on the impact of bad nutritional habits on the patient's health. Sometimes people appear unaware of how much they actually eat: in these situations the most effective way to put a break is to display on a table the real amount of food consumed in a week, and registering a precise list of the items included in the patient's diet. Another very convincing means to "scare" persons is to collect kgs of animal's fat in a buckle, and ask them to lift or even touch it...Simply disgusting, but really convincing! But dr. Gillian's attitude is quite far from being discouraging or strict. Maybe the key of her success is the fact she always shows to understand her patients' feelings, and how difficult their enterprise is.In her book she provides a section of useful tips to succeed over "hunger crisis", or "fancy-a-sweet" moments. Further, the recipes she advices are always tasty, and really healthy, of course. Together with trying to establish new nutritional habits, she builds up a sort of educational background in her patients' minds, to make them conscious of the possible consequences they could encounter if they gave up their program. This process also involves the experience of an active lifestyle, in which the everyday training becomes not only a classical way to burn calories faster, but a fundamental ingredient of their own wellness recipe.
