The wizarding community is quite literally up in arms. The war wages against the infamous You-Know-Who and his Death Eaters, but aside from grim reports in the Daily Prophet and heightened security at Hogwarts, life continues in as typical a manner as possible at a school for witchcraft and wizardry.
Yet, detention, Quidditch, and an ever-increasing mound of homework are the least of Harry?s worries this year. His efforts to keep the school bully at bay become even more urgent, and renewed tension between his two best friends does not help matters one bit. On top of this conundrum are Harry?s newly complicated feelings for an old friend. To ease the burden, a trusted mentor offers Harry rare insight into the past that could very well determine the course of the future, and the so-called ?Half-Blood Prince? appears to assist Harry in times of crisis. As the pieces of the puzzle seem to fall into place, Harry gains more confidence, but then, an event occurs which not only leaves Harry feeling quite alone in the face of the final battle but makes the outlook for the wizarding world at large still bleaker.
Will Harry succeed in his quest to rid the world of the most feared wizard of all time? For now, the answer to that question will have to wait, but this latest installment in the beloved Harry Potter series allows the reader to delve deeper into the story than ever before, leaving him or her braced for the action Harry is sure to encounter on the conclusion to this remarkable journey.
