Rough Draft: Description of a familiar room.

The dark walls of the kitchen were too close together; only two people can work in it at the same time. This situation is aggravated after the presence of icebox and micro-wave oven. On the micro-wave oven are two plastic glasses with watermelons on them and a mixture of melted ice and wine cooler inside. In between the icebox and the microwave oven stood an old rusted stove, with a black pan on it. Furthermore, a wooden cupboard almost occupies one fifth space of the kitchen, some parts of its paints have worn out, and you can see the true color of it. In addition, the week-old garbage littered the filthy ground and filled the air with a stench like no other.

The door to the dining room was cracked open, allowing only a faint stream of light to enter into the kitchen. This weak light provided a hopeless attempt for a diseased rat scurrying by to see where it was going. The rat's penetrating eyes flickered around as it attempted to dart through a pile of dirt on the floor. The soft carpet welcomed my feet as I made my way towards a door that exits the kitchen to the dining room. Standing close to the exit door was an old refrigerator that produces a soothing tune that never fades out unless there was a power outbreak.

Stars shone in the kitchen, from a window that was partly open and through a little hole on the ceiling and a cold breeze entered the kitchen from the window ajar. I flipped the window curtain and more stars were added, swirling around the room with a soft color. Something about the colorful arrangement of the stars filled my heart with warmth. The whisper of a burning kettle on the old and rusted stove sent a couple of goose pimples all over my body. This scary whisper was no different than when ghosts are available to cook for you. I felt a frigid breeze that thrashed my hair into my face from the partly open window. I watched as the cool, but angry, breeze scurried pass the burning kettle on the old and rusted stove and I stared blankly as the wind blew the flames off the oven.

The melody of water dripping from the crack on the old never-to-be-fixed faucet onto the old kerosene lantern makes a good rhyme when studying. Finally the rain began, soon to find how useful the crack on the ceiling was. I whined a long bowl sitting at the back of the old refrigerator beneath the crack on the ceiling to collect the dirty but useful water for washing dishes. It looks cool when it rains. I sit cross-legged, alone.
