Proverbs
(The Bible)
Do we want to be the heroe or the coward? Do we want to be righteous or unjust? Do we want to be leaders or followers? Do we want to be good or evil? Do we want to be closer to God? The book of proverbs is a powerful segment of the bible indeed. Not only does it educate the responder by employing simple truths but it really generates a sense of self reflection. We are not perfect beings and at times we are imprudent because of this. The book of proverbs not only nurtures our wisdom but it also paves a path for us to walk upon, where-by we can at least try to be better people. It is amazing how the book of proverbs still applies to issues of our present day society. Although it was written many hundreds of years ago, it is still helping us to be better, stronger people. It is still a great weapon against immorality. If only more people would discover the hidden treasures of this book, God?s word? Perhaps the world would better itself also. Isn?t it funny how it can be seen as such an ?uncool? thing to be reading the bible but taking drugs, excessive consumption of alcohol, teenage pregnancy and sexual debauchery is socially accepted? What do these vices bring us if not despair, depression and absolute anguish? The book of proverbs ardently speaks out against this corruption. This is because it is God?s word. It is God?s gift to us, so that we may come to know him better and to bring back a sense of meaning in our lives. Do we want evil to dominate us? No? God is our creator and he is all that is good. The least we can do is use his gifts to please him.
