The Maker's Diet
(Jordan S. Rubin)
If you're interested in a 40-day eating plan that will make you healthier, The Maker's Diet is for you. Written by Jordan S. Rubin, it's chock-full of information about how to become healthier. It's not just a diet for losing weight, although if you stick with it, your weight will probably drop to normal levels. The author, Jordan Rubin, is the founder of Garden of Life, which is a health and wellness company. He holds degrees in naturopathic medicine, nutrition, and natural therapies. He writes with authority and is definitely in tune with his subject matter. In the book you'll see before and after pictures of him that shows how sickly he was, practically at death's door, and how he changed his eating and living habits and brought himself back into a healthier, more vibrant person. Rubin has written three books and has appeared on several television shows talking about nutrition and the benefits of the Maker's diet. The diet consists of eating foods in their natural state as often as possible. Also, Rubin stresses the importance of elimanating highly processed foods, which are a staple of the American diet. He writes that we should eat free-range chickens, and other meats that are antibiotic-free. Rubin claims that if you follow this diet, it will boost your immune system as it did his. The diet should also improve your digestion and increase your energy level. The Maker's Diet is definitely worth reading. Even if you don't follow it strictly, you'll find that you can make small improvements that will help you live a longer healthier life. I highly recommend The Maker's Diet. It's more a lifestyle than a diet, per se. Once you read it, you can decide for yourself if this diet is for you. It's especially a good book for those of the Christian faith, as Rubin uses scripture to support his nutritional claims.
