Why I Want To Write
(rukki)
WHY I WANT TO WRITE 1. It has always been my dream to be a published writer, which is why, your advertisement: ?WRITE AND BE PUBLISHED? caught my attention. People around me have always encouraged me, asserting I have an aptitude and flair for writing. The prizes I have won in the various competitions have enhanced my faith in my ability to write. I have prizes to my credit at the national level, state level and university level. Further I am a student of English Literature and a rank-holder in the university. Pursuing literature, I have been exposed to various kinds of writing; and have been influenced by different writers. In particular, the plays of Girish Karnad, John Fowles, A.K. Ramanujan, Dylan Thomas, John Donne and Pirandello .Moreover, hailing from a conservative society and being a woman, writing seems to be the best medium to air my views; as indeed, the pen is mightier than the sword. However, in order to pursue writing as a profession, the ability needs a lot of pruning and polishing. I did not have an idea where to get guidance in this regard. Nor did I know how to reach publishers and markets. The progarmme of the writers Bureau seems to offer everything in a nutshell from what it promises in its prospectus. It appears to cover all aspects of writing in its small compass. The success stories of many have added to its credibility. I hope the Writers Bureau aids in fulfilling my aspiration of becoming an established writer. To summarize my future ambitions, it would be the two goals any writer would strive for; that of commercial success and critical acclaim. I would like to thank Shvoong for the opportunities it provides to free lance writers with no fee to begin with. Keep up the good work.
