Celebrity Madness

It is becoming outrageously monotonous: the highly publicized stories of celebrity break ups. Scores of magazine covers are graced by the unhappy faces of broken hearted celebrities or the secret photos of their cheating counterparts. Millions of dollars are exchanged in order to claim the rights to these pictures. The world is going berserk in its quest on drowning themselves in the lives and loves of famous actors, actresses and musicians.
Why are we so addicted to celebrity gossip? Why do we spend so much time and money in keeping track of what goes on in the lives and affairs of the rich and famous? Perhaps we want to feel better about ourselves or maybe we do not have a life and therefore are trying (so desperately) to enjoy and experience other peoples; joys and sorrows (mostly sorrows though). There are people who know the exact state and emotions certain celebrities are dealing with and yet they have absolutely no idea how their friends or family members are struggling with life. It seems that the world has gladly exchanged care and wisdom for shallow mundane reasoning.
Of what benefit is it to us if brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are together? What does it concern us if Katie Holmes is engaged to a man old enough to be her father? We have ceased to care about the things that are important in our lives and welfare; instead we waste our time pursuing events and activities that do nothing but generate gossip and senseless controversy.
It is high time we realized that celebrities are merely humans making a living (a comfortable one too) and not demi-gods who like to be hounded and worshiped. It is time we focused our attention on ourselves and loved ones, and forget about celebrities who all want to have a normal, peaceful and hassle free life.
