Ruth
(The Bible)

Publicidade
A hebrew man who lives as a migrant dies far from home, he is survived by the moabite woman that he has married, the foreign land is Moab, a neighbour of the kingdom of israel and the name of the woman is Ruth. The book of Ruth is an eponynomous account of the life of this moabite woman who survives her husband in an uncertain world, having said that it is rather strange to see this acount in the bible. For sure the bible does have other heroines in its vast canon of book's including in the old testament itself the queen Esther and the jewish heroine Deborah. Ruth however is not like the other heroine's of the bible, she comes across as heroic not because of her ability but because of her devotion to her adopted land and it's monotheistic faith. Why would the Hebrew canon have such a heroine is a mystery as moab is an inimical nation to the israelites. After her husband dies, Ruth is offered her freedom by her mother in law to leave her as she intends to return to the hebrew land and cannot aford to take care of Ruth, but strangely enough this moabite woman is devoted to her mother, thought neither old nor incapacitated she pleads with her mother in law to allow her to follow. " i will follow you" is her persistent motto, your people will be my people, she goes on, your god, will be my god.
Has Ruth been included in the bible to teach us character? she eventually finds her destiny and a husband in her adopted land. Never once does she look back, the powerful message from the Book of Ruth is really "Loyalty" and dedication, and a steadfast character.Ruth has it all in radiant Abundance.
