Newspaper Extracts all over
The newspapers are amok with the news items screeching the gory details of the London serial blasts. In a matter of a few minutes so many innocent lives were lost and the number continues to rise till those missing are accounted for. This gruesome act of terrorism once again shows how vulnerable we are to these kinds of acts.
It also goes on without saying that every time such an incident takes place, we write about it in detail and then with the passage of time we tend to forget about it. Only those people, who have lost a dear one or have observed death at close quarters, perhaps remember it for a little longer. And then, we move on with life. It is human nature to forgive and forget. Conceivably, it is an act of self-preservation. We want to believe that everything will be all right.
When I see the anguish on the faces of the victims, I really wonder if the people who are responsible ever realise the agony that these people go through. But then probably this is what they are targeting. Innocent people who would perhaps never even think of hurting a fly. There are so many victims of terror in our country, India, as well. So are there in Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel. Almost all over the world. This scrooge of terrorism has to be fought by the whole democratic world united.
This cowardly action against the innocent people has to be condemned by all nations, so that the message clearly goes to the perpetrators of this heinous crime. These acts will not deter the democratic world and make us lose faith in the institution of democracy and multi ethnic and secular way of life. Where there is no discrimination on the basis of nation, religion, ethnicity and race.
