The Over Rated Concept Of Soul Mates
(Vellanie DSouza)

Publicidade
Most writers would begin their work with definitions of what they are writing about, but, I would like to differ with their way and take an approach of my own. This will not only be evident in the way I write but also in the way I think and I hope you will like it, and if you don?t, well?? it still wouldn?t make a great deal of difference to me.

Today I choose to give you my insights on Soul mates. Well?, I do feel that the entire concepts of there being just one person for you is extremely over rated. I mean what if I were to meet this extremely handsome man who takes me to cloud 9 almost every moment I spend with him, I spend almost 2 years with him and then things don?t work out, is that to say that I had my share and for the rest of my life I am to live alone , starved for love and depressed that I will never find true love again. Why??? Because I had my share of one and in the future I can have none.

Most women choose to take their vows and state that they would stay by their man till death did they part??. Well, I beg to differ; I would rather vow to stay with a man till I find myself on a good ride and nothing else better to do. Married or unmarried, I would live by this rule.

By now you may have established the fact that I do not believe in the concept of soul mates. For me the acknowledgement that you receive from a person you may think you are in love with is as unimportant as the concept of love itself. The conventional chocolates, red roses and knight in shinning amour bit turns me on no more than a white rat turning into a stallion in order to take Cinderella to the dance. For what its worth, women today seriously need to reconsider the choices that they make.

From times unknown it has been the man who has the right to make the first approach and ask a person out. Who the hell gave them that right? Who?s to say that I cannot go up to a perfectly fine man and make the first move? Society would still look down at the fact that a woman has made the first move and would condemn her even further when they find her unmarried at the age of 30.

It?s the Bridget Jones Syndrome, every woman I know is in search of true love and women go up to the extent of gouging someone?s eyes out in the bargain in order to find her knight only to find herself crying at a slumber party with her gal pals about what a horrible person he was and how much she regrets the time she spent with him. This is a conventional scenario when a man decides that he has had his share of ecstasy from one flower and that he needs a upgrade to impress his friends.
