Bravo Two Zero

January 1991. The Kuwait is a battlefield and NATO and Iraq are at war. At the forefront behind enemy lines are the best, the very best. The SAS are active in Iraq on missions to destroy Scud Missile launchers that have been bombarding Israel. A true story written by the commander of the patrol, Andy McNab has put down to paper his experience during one such mission.
Dropped behind enemy lines with faulty equipment the team are cut off in North Western Iraq, surrounded by the enemy with limited supplies but fortunately Armed to the teeth. The misfortune with the faulty equipment gets worse as the team refuse to murder a child who happens upon them by accident and alerts the Iraqi military to the eight-man patrol.
The game up Andy and the team fight they?re way out to relative safety. With the entire Iraqi army alerted to they?re presence the decision is made to abort mission and evacuate as soon as possible. But due to the faulty equipment they cant get a message through and now they?ve been discovered they can no longer afford to wait for a rescue. The only option is to make for Syria and escape on foot despite it being over a hundred kilometres away. Fighting against the enemy hunting them and the hostile weather conditions they get split up and as the supplies and ammo run low they get desperate. Hijacking a car on the main road and then taking chances by running through a settlement less than a mile away from the boarder Andy is captured.
The horrific tortures inflicted on him over the next 6 weeks are indescribable and shows the limits of human endurance. Shocking story after shocking story of prisoner mistreatment leave Andy and his surviving team contemplating martyrdom. At the end of the war after being released it was discovered that three of his eight-man team didn?t survive the mission and that his rampage through Iraq left an estimated 300 Iraqi troops dead. Only one member of the squad escaped to Syria a shining example of human endurance and will to survive made even more important because it is a true story
