9/11 was a year everyone will remember. This would be memorable for these numbers stand for ?Emergency" and literally this day it was not a false call.

I was lying in bed and was jolted awake by the telephone ringing. An agency had work for me...long-term assignment. Knowing more calls were forthcoming, I decided not to answer the phone and went back to sleep. Around 12 pm Days of Our Lives was coming on and eagerly anticipated watching it only to see an airplane collide into a building in the Financial District of New York City! I couldn't believe it and was in shock. Hastily I turned the channel and saw the events unfold again and again and again. I phoned a friend of mine and she had seen it too. For weeks, fireman, doctors and priests helped console and look for victims. It took weeks for the smoke to disappear.

Now we have 7/7 in London's subway system. Tears began to swell in my eyes as I imagine their pain and suffering. Just imagine all those who went to work, but only a small number would return. And the families? Nothing you can say will heal their heartache or wounds.

I'm afraid that those perpetrators have longed planned their attacks in advance and I'm also afraid they may strike again. This time, however, it may be more deadly. What would happen if they decided to cripple flights, trains, subways and busses simultaneously? Couldn't happen! Impossible! Well think again. Since they are vying for large crowds and notoriety, how much more than to stymie all transportation systems?

Here's the scenario: All airplanes, railways, subways stations and busses are under attack; police are frustrated in how to deal with the panic; traffic jams tie up vital roads and main arteries; hospitals are swamped and ambulances may find it difficult to reach less knows treat victims. Likely, an easy takeover for any marauding invaders.

Except, for one small minute detail. Just like 9/11 there will be some who will manage to put a halt to this madness as in the case of those hijacked airplanes. Yes, there will be some (just like the terrorists) who will give their lives for the sake of the many.

How does this affect anyone? Well think Globalization. If we could put our heads together, maybe just maybe we could put more than just a dent into terrorism. But then, those who have advanced degrees would have to plan a committee; nominate committee members; choose a president, a vice president, a secretary and then the Board of Directors.

By this time a small number of people who are just your working joes will decide with a nod of head to literally grab the bull by the horns.

Thank goodness for the working Joes!
