A Winter Twilight
(angela weld grimke')
A winter twilight I read this poem by Angela Weld Grimke?, but I could not quite get the feel of what she was trying to say. I do not see how her literature fits in with the other authors like W. E. D Dubois. Angelina Weld Grimke? was the product of a slave and a white plantation owner. She grew up in a life of luxury not shared by any African-Americans during the early 1900s. This piece of literature does not lend any insight into what was going on when Ms. Grimke? was alive. I did not know if she was talking about Mother Nature or how she felt inside. It?s like Ms. Grimke? was trying to make things seem more positive then they were at that time. I do not know what her stand was, because she never really stated what she believed in. In addition, what she was for and against concerning the treatment of her people. It was as if nothing affected her. I think she was more influenced by her surroundings than the racial discrimination that was felt by many people of black skin. Angela Weld Grimke? unintentionally identified herself as kind of a spoiled woman. She did not really get a chance to experience racism at its worst. Ms. Grimke? did not really know what racism was until she got older. That is when she decided to write a play about it. However, I still do not think she really felt the scorn, poverty, and unfair treatment. For example, like not having equal rights like the whites. Angela Weld Grime has defined herself as an intelligent woman born of privilege.
