The wisest man in the old testament was without a doubt King Solomon and this is one of his works of art inspired by the knowledge and depth of God. Song of songs is a graphic and detailed collection of romantic poems between two inseparable lovers. There is also a third party in this book composed of the friends of the female lover who try to emphasize the beauty and love shared between this special couple. The role of the friends can be likened to that of a witness in any situation; they create proof and show without reasonable doubt that neither parties are confused, in this way we know that the lovers are truly beautiful and have a strong emotional connection between them.

There is no proof in all eight chapters that these two individuals are married because they are described as "Lover" and "Beloved" and never as "husband" and "wife". This is contrary to the popular belief most people have which likens this book to the relationship Jesus has with the Church. Jesus has a strong personal relationship based on trust and sacrifice with the church and there is no physical attraction linked to it. On the other hand, the contents of this book are at most times sensual and erotic and certain descriptions illustrate that the sensations shared are made up of a unique and perfect blend of lust and love, therefore this book focuses solely on the state of matter between two lovers hopelessly and completely in love and not just one of strong friendship and trust.

It is important to note that from the wisdom of God comes forth purity, honesty and love, but Solomon also shows that as humans we also need personal emotions and strong feelings of desire between those who are closest to us, who we want to spend the rest of our lives with. There is a sense of urgency in this book that depicts the need to find and cling unto that one special person, and the appearance and beauty of both parties are likened to magnificent works of nature and graceful elements of the world thus showing that doting and passion are also needed in our lives. Both parties love each other equally and openly show the whole world that emotions such as love should be broadcasted and radiated and not hidden or kept secretive.

Song of songs is an anthology of love, a Shakespearean collection of romance which shows that humans need strong pangs of desire for a love relationship to work: the yearning of a physical connection is critical in the balance and durability of a relationship, and flames of fondness and longing should never be quenched if happiness and love is to last. This book is a beautifully written work of literaure and showcases one of the finest descriptive poems ever written by man, it is a treasure for romanticists and a haven for those in love, it will enrich the heart and show that desire and passion is a quality everyone should display properly.
