Resumo de The Hobbit Or There And Back Again

Bilbo, simple hobbit who never does anything unexpected who lives in the peaceful Shire, is visited by the old wizard Gandalf who is known for adventures. Hobbits are jovial creatures, no more than three feet tall who live in houses cut out fromt he side of hills. With the old man come a company af thirteen dwarves. The leader, Thorin Oakenshield, is the ruler of the Lonely Mountain in the lands far to the east of the Shire. They want the hobbit to make their unlucky group of thirteen a lucky group of fourteen and to be, what they call, a thief. Thorin and his company are out to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from teh dragon Smaug. Biblo tries to do the best for his guests, but after a strange evening of song and legend, he is taken by the spirit of adventure. Thus, the next morning after the party had already left, he sets out after them.
      On the journey, Biblo saves his new friends from trolls who capture them and try to eat them. He tricks them by making them argue until the sun comes up to turn them into stone. The company, with the guidance of Gandalf, come to the elven city of Rivendell. There, they map out a plan to reclaim the Mountain. When they leave, they continue eastward and through the Misty Mountains. The drawves are captured and Bilbo saves them, but another incident happens so that he can do so.   He finds a ring the ground. He finds that when he wears this ring, he becomes invisible. A strange creature finds Bilbo and they battle for the ring with riddles. Biblo wins and keeps the ring. Once he and the dwarves are safe, they continue out of the mountains with the helps of the eagles who live in great nests on the top of the mountains. Once on the plains, Gandalf leaves them.
      The company's next obstacle is to make their way through the vast Mirkwood Forest. It is very dark, as al of the tree block out the sunlight. They are set upon by forest elves and taken captive. Bilbo uses his ring that makes him invisible to hide the dwarves in barrels and roll them down the river.
     The finally exit the forest and climb up the mountain and find the hidden door through which they can enter only on the right day of the year, when the full moon casts its light on the doors. the enter the mountain and find that the dragon is out terrorizing the town at the foo tof the mountain. Thorin finds all of his treasures and the Arkenstone, a most prized jewel. The dragon is killed in the town by a man named Bard, who strikes it with a bow at the one spot in the chest where the scales are uncovered.
    The adventure is not yet over, as Bilbo encounters the political hatred between the elves and the dwarves. In an attempt to make peace, he escapes to discuss a possible treaty with the dwarves. Thorin does not know of this, but when he finds out he sees Bilbo as a traitor and harbors a strong resentment against him.
    A battle occurs out of the tensions, called the Battle of Five Armies, as Thorin's army of dwarves, the elven army, and every other viewpoint in the area fight against each other. Biblo runs away during the melee and sees the eagles. They swoop in and the battle eventually draws to a close.
     The dwarves had difficulties finding Bilbo when the battle way over, since he had been wearing his ring, making him invisible. He awoke after one of the dwarves dripped over him and brought him back to where all of Thorin's company was gathered. Gandalf had come back and greets the hobbit.
     Thorin is dying from a wound received in battle. He wishes to see Bilbo before he dies. The dwarf make peace witht he hobbit, wishing him the best for his future. Thorin dies and is buried with great honor with the Arkenstone.
     Bilbo returns home with Gandalf, loaded with gold and riches the dwarves gave him for his help, the terms that they had agreed upon over a year before in Bilbo's home when he was hired as a thief.
