Ken Kagami lives and works in Tokyo. Kagami’s background is in fashion - he studied at Bunka Fashion college. Design, as and an interest in the American abject; i.e. the work of Paul McCarthy, serves as a foundation for his practice. Kagami coordinates found objects such as toys and children’s clothing to create unsettling works. Best known for his supremely deranged artwork for Deerhoof''s Milk Man album, Ken Kagami, takes great pleasure in exposing the brightly coloured injection-formed world of the toddler to the horrifyingly sordid reality of the big kids playground. Ken Kagami has participated in international exhibitions with Gallery.Sora., Tokyo, Galleri Nicolai Wallner, Copenhagen and Krinzinger Projekte, Vienna.
