Having a dog is like having a kid. Even when they are naughty, you gotta love 'em. Dogs just lokk up at you with total acceptance in their eyes. This was Marley as much or more than any other dog. John Grogan really shines as a writer in this book. I gasped for breath sometimes as I read, I was laughing so hard. The description of the first day at obedience school is priceless. Marley was a bog oaf of a dog with one thing on his mind--sniffing other dogs!
Marley was naughty & destructive, but also totally loving and loyal to his family. Not a mean bone in his body. His destructiveness came out of fear of thunderstorms, which abound in Florida. He was terrified of them. Marley was a big tease when he had a forbidden object in his huge Labrador Retriever mouth, and he weighed in at 97 pounds. To the Grogans, he was a wonderful, unique, loving dog who filled their lives with joy, even if there were a few bumps in the road!
Marley & Me is a must read for every dog lover
