This is a beautiful heart touching poem by Great American poet Robert Frost. The main theme is the conflict between a rural farmerand his wife who has lost there first -born child. The wife is so distraughted that she cannot accept the situation and her feeling of helpless is aggravated when she sees her husband himself digging grave. The overwrought ,excited mother cannot understand the indiffernet and callous attitude of her husband. While Husband who is a farmer have an oraganic view of life. For him even this activity of digging grave for his child is not indifferent or insensitive attitutde, it is a responsibilitywhich he must complete. He tries to comfort his wife but she hysterical . "She withdrew shrinking from beneath his arm That rested on the banister and slid downstairs; And turned on him with such a daunting look," She is very upset and accuse her husband of being insensitive failing to grasp the meaning of his labour which was a conscious effort to mitigate his grief "You could sit there with the stains on your shoes Of fresh earth from your own baby's grave. And talk about your everyday concerns." But husband also sholuder a portion of blame for the strain between them as he is unable to communicate clearly and he leaves much unspoken and unexpressed. When wife hurl allegations he does not make any effort to point that she has misinterpreted his emotions. The poem progress with wife being inconsolable and Husand trying to bring her to senses...shewant to escape from him and tries to open the door..But husband is really caring and want to save his marriage. The last line beautifully describes the husband's will to avoid the breaking of their relationship and shows that he loves his wife very much. "Where do you mean to go? First tell me that, I'll follow and bring you back by force. I will ! ". This poem was written shortly after the death of the poet's first _born son Elliottin 1900. So he must have penned down what he have might have gone through. Homeburial title suggest two meaning the burial of home..and second breakdown of Human communication even will we are speaking.
