The Clash Of Two Generations

An old man about seventy years old came to the US through the sponsorship of his son and lived with him. His bedroom in the basement is narrow. Every morning, when his son and his daughter-in-law went to work, he went upstairs to the living room, spacious and bright to relax. He stayed there to look the landscape through the front windown. The main was locked to protect the burglary. Near the window, therewas a small tablewith a vase in the middle ofit.The fatherbought flowers and arranged them in the vase. He put the vase to the left corner of the table.
In the evening, the son came back from work and saw the location of the vase. He look unhappy.He put the vase back in the middle of the table and threw away the bouquet. The father felt just sorrowful but he put up with it. He has difficult nature and nobody would know. When the son left home, he changed the position of the vase. He might want to let the windown unhindered and wanted to see the outdoors. When the son came back from work, he grumbled :
_ Dad, what is the matter with you ? The vase should be in the middle. Put it on the side ! It looks ugly
And the dispute went on. In the morning, the father put the vase to the left. In the evening, the son put it in the middle. The distance between the two position was about ten centimeters. A couple of months have passed . One day, the fathersuffered an heart attack. He has a heart problem years ago. He died in the hospital.. Was he sorrow by the home sickness or by the loss of his freedom ? Coming to the America he was more well to do than in the homeland but he was not on his own. He lost his " freedom " even though this was the petty " freedom " to select the arrangement of flowers in the house.
The father is not the owner of the house but he still does on the principle of the Oriental values. "The fatheris the top of the mountain ". THe son is the son but in fact he is still the owner of the house. He bought the house and took care of the father
The personal likings, the conflict between East and West in appearance, they are not the matters to speak of, but as a matter of fact they have significant differences that rise up sometimes vigorouslyin one's heart
