This book is about a 16 year old girl named Joanna who is an indentured slave in the iron works of Massachusettes Bay Colony.
In this book, Joanna sees the hatred of men and indians toward each other and how hard it is for an indianto be a Christian and what effect it has in his/her family. She also struggles to satisfy her master and mistress....the iron master and his wife, who believe that a servant shouldn't wear fancy clothes. She also earns the name "peacock" from the house maid because she wore very dressy clothes.This book is a wonderful book for people who like American History.
