Grandmas Revenge
(Lee Walter)
?Revenge for Grandma? As the early morning approached afternoon, the four -foot girl was ready to venture her way to grandma?s house that was a journey itself. After the youngster's mother gave her the picnic basket full of yummy, sugarcoated cookies, Megan made sure she was dressed for the weather. Since the sun was shining but the air was a bit chilly, the brown-eyed girl grabbed her red scarf and matching red cape; then Megan became Little Red Riding Hood. While skipping and humming a tune through the wilderness, her deep brown eyes examined everything, from those thick pine trees, which seemed as if they were dying to the chirpy frogs that croaked along the swamp banks to her singing. ?Wow, this is taking forever,? Red Riding Hood, mumbled as she hoofed up over a steep hillside. In the thickets stood a shadow of a creature, about six times taller than Red Riding Hood, with the nose of an elephant. As Red Riding Hood approached the thing, she saw tears rushing from those enormous black eyes. ?What?s wrong, fellah?? she asked, handing him a tissue from her yellow shirt pocket ?What you want?? the wolf huffed, as his paw rested on the tree. ?I am on my way to grandma?s house with some cookies and saw you crying here, so I thought I would take a break and make a friend.? ?Well, I don?t have any friends? the wolf grumbled while blowing through his nostrils. "I will be your friend," Megan smiled, then the two laughed and skipped the rest of the way to grandma's house. As the sun started to set, Red Riding Hood found herself lost in the woods with the wolf. Stopping dead in her tracks and shrugging her shoulders she stated, "This isn't the way to Grandma?s house, silly old wolf." "Sure it is, look at the smoke in the sky. Grandma's house is right over that hill." ?Are you sure, Mr. Wolf?? ?I am your friend, remember? And friends are someone you can trust, at least that?s what you told me.? ?Ok, Mr. Wolf, lets get going then, I ?m starting to get a little cold.? They finally reached the log cabin and entered through the front door. Megan noticed a black kettle over the fireplace and was a little confused because Grandma's house didn't have a kettle pot in a fireplace, Grandma had a teakettle on a stove. "Now wait a minute, Mr. Wolf!" she shouted as he slammed the door shut, locking it with his pointed, fury paws. While the wolf was in the kitchen mixing up a potion that would make Little Red Riding Hood sleep forever, Megan yelled for her grandmother. ?Grandma, are you here? Where are you? Mr. Wolf, I don't see Grandma." "She will be here any minute, now. Don't worry little girl." Just before the wolf handed Red Riding Hood his potion, a loud scream came from the back door. The wolf's eyes widened when he saw a four-foot tall, eighty-year old woman wearing bi-focals that came down just to the tip of her nose, standing in the hallway with a semi-automatic machine gun. "There you are, Grandma!" Red Riding Hood exclaimed while running towards her and holding her arms out for a hug. ?Get out of the way, kid, this wolf is mine!? The last words that came from Red Riding Hoods mouth were, ?Grandma what big gun you have,? After the bullets finished shattering off the walls, there was silence. Grandma saw Red Riding Hood lying face up with blood coming from her chest, while the wolf was face down on top of Red Riding Hood, not breathing at all.
