On special occasions, such as Thanksgiving, my father would say the Latin grace he learned as a school boy inEngland. None of us knew what the grace meant in English but it sounded impressive. The reader, if he uses one or two of these phrases may be able to seem intelligent; maybe more intelligent than he really is.
