White Fang
(Jack London)

Publicidade
Jack London (1876-1916) lived life as an adventurer. He started out as an oyster pirate, educated himself variously, and later joined the Klondike Gold Rush(1897). What he brought with him was not gold, but rather a goldmine of information and experience, which was to last him a lifetime.?White Fang? is a part of his Alaskan adventure stories. The hero of this novel is a three- quarter wolf dog, a born fighter, taught in the art of survival by the harsh arctic clime. There are three principal human characters in the novel-Gray Beaver- the ?savage god? -the Indian who introduces him to the world of ?Man?, but leaves him more or less alone to fend for himself. Here he learns to fight for survival, it is a literal ?dog eats dog world?. This education holds him in good stead during his misadventure with the sadistic Beauty Smith- a beast among men -rightfully called the ?mad god?. However, it was his association with Weedon Scott- the ?Love Master? ? which brought about the ?taming of the wolf?. Very few characters, let alone a dog evolves with such vivid description on the pages of a book. Jack London is a master story teller.
