Write your abstract here.Hi Friends, the paint technology experts. Today I will tell you about gloss of a dried paint film.Suppose myself enter your office in a fine morning while you are busy with the optimization of your paint formulation and show you two painted panels from some distance and ask you which of the panels is more glossy sir? I am sure,you will indicate the panel shinning more as the glossier one. I tell you this is wrong sir,this concept is wrong. The panel which is shinning more is higher in relative brightness than the other but nothing can be said about gloss until and unless you put it under a glossmeter and measure the gloss value. It might so happen the less shinning one is more glossy.From a distance we observe the average intensity of light scattered from a painted panel from all directions and that is the relative brigtness. Gloss is directly related to the intensity of light reflected from a specific angle of incidence and reflectance.Surface micro hetergenity reduces the gloss value but not the relative brightness.Millions of people everyday confuse betweenthe two. But from today I strongly believe, you people , my beloved friends will ever make such confusion.
