Pride And Prejudice
(Jane Austen)
Meet the Bennets. There's Mr and Mrs Bennet. Mr Bennet is reserved, sarcastic at times, quite repectable and respected. Mrs Bennet on the other hand is quite the hen, silly, embarrassingly loud and utterly without the basic principles of refinement and class. They have five daughters.Jane is the handsome one,as well as sensible and kind. Elisabeth isour heroine and therefore our favourite as well. She's intelligent and has beautiful eyes. Lydia is good humoured if you ask her mother and silly if you ask her father. Kitty comes next not because she is youngerthan Lydia but because she copies her behaviour. Mary is the plain one and if one were to ask her, the inelligent one as well. She certainly is wellread and professes to be a pianist. They are genteel yet poorand definetely lacking in discretion and elegance - excepting our heroine, Elisabeth, her older sister Jane and dear father.
Five daughters in need of a husband. Mrs Bennet is determined to marry them off to rich men of high society. EnterMr Darcy, his two sisters and best friend Mr Bingly. They are the quintessential aristocrats: rich, contemptuously superior and haughtily refined. How do theirtwo worlds connect? This delightful tale of pride and prejudiceleaves the heart whistling and the lips sighing with contentment. It appeals to the true romantic in all of us and is a perfect example of how romantic tension can heighten theplotof any story.
