A Cartomante

A Cartomante is a short story by Machado de Assis tell us the story of Camilo, Vilela and rita. Camilo e Vilela were great friends and Rita was Villela´s wife and Camilo´s lover. Camilo receive anoninous letters about his relationship with Rita. Very worried with these letters, he leave Rita and don´t go her home no more. Rita, afraid, go to a woman who read cards. Vilela calls Camilo for his house and he is so afraid about the relationship, thinking that all it was discovered, he go to the woman´s house to see his future in cards. She said that it is not necessary to worry. When Camilo come in his friend home, Vilela calls him to the bedroom, shows his dead wife and kills him.
