If you enjoy a dark and suspense-driven novel, then Traitor is the one for you.
It's clever and twisted plot, written in what I suppose you could call 2nd person form, will leave you gagging for more (pardon the expression, but if you read the first few pages, you'll see what i mean). It is part of a 19-novel series written by various authors about alien invaders shattering the relative peace of the Star Wars universe. These invaders are highly religious and this is to the point of fanaticism; all their weapons and ships are organic, and they see technology as a perversion of life. Their goal is to convert the galaxy to the True Way.
In Traitor, the only remaining son of Han and Leia Solo, is being held hostage by the invaders - and is in the ambiguous care of a strange alien named Vergere - who was once the familiar of one of the invader's priestesses. She is not of the same species. Her mysterious view of right and wrong, good and evil start Jacen Solo down a dark and dangerous path of self-discover - where his entire belief system is shattered, his whole life shown to be a lie... and he is remade into something more than he was. Setting the stage for a breath-taking and heart-warming finale of heroism and loyalty (of this book and of the series), this novel paves the way for the next series: Legacy of the Force.
As a writer, Stover is the only one I've came across who can entertain me time and time again as I re-read the novel - and in turn influence my views so strongly. Traitor is not just a story: it is a journey of self-discovery for every reader, whether and avid fan of Star Wars or a student of philosophy. Be prepared to die and be born again!
