A graduate student wanders the streets of San Francisco, comtemplating suicide and thinking about the best way to end it all when streaks of illuminations alter people in the area and exponentially magnifies their natural abilities, strength, and their ability to influence others. Their intelligence if comparable to that of gods. Their natural and prophetic abilities is infinitely augmented. The suicidal student is momentarily consoled by his newfound friends until someone becomes the epitome of death by the same light and hunts down the other recipients. Do they survive or perish?
