Royal Route to Happiness!
(Me and an Indian friend)
There may be a debate whether all the major belief systems were created by human beings, but there is no debate that they all are for humans. Human beings have been put in a different league as compared to millions of other species. There is an amazingly similar self-development process for man in all religions. They all talk of five planes. For instance, in the Indian system the five planes are: Physical (Sthula), Astral (Kama), Mental (Manas), Spiritual (Budhhi) and Celestial (Atma) leading to the Supreme (Parmatma/Brahma). There are corresponding five planes in almost all major systems. In spite of this, majority of the followers of all these religions are born, live their entire life and depart remaining at the lowest physical level. At best they may roll over to astral and mental levels that too driven only by vasanas or desires. The only way human beings can climb the ladders of joy in terms of pleasure, happiness, bliss and ecstasy is by exhausting the past karmas and not accumulating any new karmas. That is possible only when we respect the five-tier system of self-development and pursue it with complete faith, vigor and dedication. If we are driven by activity then the route for our self or spiritual development is by becoming a Karma yogi. Which means do all that we are expected to in the spirit of service and do not bother about the results. If we are more emotional then Bhaktiyoga is the right path. Forge a close relation with Lord, either as beloved, child, servant or friend and surrender totally to Him! If more of an intellectual then Gyanyoga is the royal route to spiritual development. Realizing that the world that we find so real and alluring isn’t really so. The Reality lies beneath all that we see, hear, feel, taste and smell. To get to that ultimate Reality by piercing through the veil of ignorance is the purpose of human life. We all have tasted the sweetness of joy in fleeting moments! We can make it permanent by embarking on the journey that takes us higher and higher on the five planes. Well, the experience of being there we are told is beyond words. But the joy of journey, this child of God can assure, is like floating in the air free from fear, anxiety and depression. Equally important achievement part of this upwardly mobile lifestyle is the recognition that as human beings we have one great opportunity to redeem us and the pledge that we are not letting it pass like a ship in the night!
