Resumo de Exam Day - Katherine Harvey

A nursing student is aganizing about the up and coming Patholphyisiology exam. She can't sleep the whole week before. Days have been spent going over index cards with all information she will need for this exam. Her socalled boyfriend who claims to stand by her for everything is out partying the night before the test. She had asked him not to go. "Please stay and help me study." she pleaded. His response was basically no reponsce. So this perserverant student does the best she can without him. "Skrew him", she thinks. She lays her card out to play a game. She doesnt' yet know how she will make it a game but somethings got to get her motivatied to study. The traditional study approach will not work because her mind is clouded by her feelings of disappointment toward her boyfriend. She puts the index card on the floor at random. There are different peices of candy under each card. If she can answer the question on the note correctly she geta to eat it. Otherwise, safe for later.This approach works well for about 2 hours. Then she reads through her notes again and again and again. She wants to be properly rested for the exam at 9:00 A.M. and decided it would be best for her to be done studying. She is thinking 'if only he were here, I would have done so much better with my studying.' Whats a girl to do though? Get a good night sleep and pray and pray and pray some more that God will help her during the test.
The day arrives. She wakes up okay. Only had to press snooze 3 times this morning. As she brushes her teeth and combs her hair into a ponytail, she becomes angry that her significant other didn't have the deceny to help. On the bright side, she is just glad the day is here. She arrives to class with a special Starbucks coffee in her hand to help her be alert during this exam. The proffer and an assistant had out the exams. The class quietly goes to town scribbling in answers to the questions. This nursing student we know is always the first one done.
The professor is kind enough to look through it. She got a 92. That is one of the top grades! She runs out to her car with feeling so elated.
Not only was getting the grade on test a wonderful accomplishment for her today. There is yet another positive outcome for her. She is learning independence. She doesn't need any one but her self. Sometimes it can be scary to be alone. When one starts to see that they have worth on there own without the help of others. This is when people can truely bloom.
