Now Teddy Maynard, head of the CIA, want Joel Backman out and free to find out who was behind the killings. They are willing to risk Backman?s life to find out who did it, only they are not telling Joel Backman his life is at risk. President Morgan issues the pardon, and Joel Backman is rushed from prison only to be flown overseas. He is given a new identity known as Marco Lazzeri. Marco is given a language tutor to help him learn Italian. Luigi, sent by the CIA, unknown by Marco, talks to him and encourages him to do all he can to absorb into this new culture. Marco meets Isabella, his new tutor. Although she is cold at first, slowly she warms up to him and they begin to fall in love. Around this same time, Marco discovers that they are keeping very close tabs on him. He finds a way to contact his estranged son Neal. Neal agrees to help him out, and sends him a PDA that can send secure email. Shortly after he receives the PDA and contacts his son, Marco?s cover is blown, and the chase is on. Marco leads the CIA, and his selected assassins on a goose chase over Europe and finally to the United States. Together Marco and his son will broker his final deal to try and save his life.
