These guardians must quickly master their new powers, demonstrate their worth to their honorable leader Turaga Dume, retrieve the hidden Great Kanoka Disks and rescue the inhabitants of their island city. Will they succeed before time runs out, or will darkness prevail?

Vakama, Toa of Fire
Prior to becoming the new Toa of Fire, Vakama was one of the very few mask-makers at work in Metru Nui. Despite his talent, he was never very sure of himself, and he remains probably the least confident Toa. He isn?t sure why Toa Lhikan chose him for the honor of becoming of a hero, and he worries that he will fail. But he is determined to try his hardest to live up to the responsibility given to him.

Nokama, Toa of Water
As a Ga-Metru teacher, Nokama was always the voice of reason. As Toa of Water, she finds herself fulfilling the same role, this time with five strong-willed heroes of Metru Nui. Although she is great friends with Vakama and very supportive of him, she is also not afraid to take on the leadership role herself when the situation demands it. She takes second place to no one in terms of bravery or wisdom.

Whenua, Toa of Earth
During all the time Whenua spent studying history as an Onu-Metru archivist, he never dreamed he would one day be making it as a Toa Metru. Although dismissed by Onewa as ?just a librarian,? Whenua has a strong sense of honor and a fierce love for his city. As Toa of Earth, he has vowed to protect Metru Nui, even if it costs his own life

Onewa, Toa of Stone
Po-Metru carvers are very practical beings, and Onewa is no different. He sees no point in worrying about the past or the future. As a Toa, he is the same: focus on the problem at hand, at things you can see and hear, and worry about everything else later. This leads him into conflict with Nuju, Whenua, and Vakama, but he isn?t a Toa to be liked. He is a Toa to help save Metru Nui.

Matau, Toa of Air
Matau loves risk and adventure. As a Matoran, he spent every spare moment on the Le-Metru Moto-Hub test track, trying to see how fast he could make new vehicles go before they fell apart. Now that he is a Toa, he sees the potential for unlimited excitement and glory. He doesn?t mind getting to hang around with Nokama all the time, either.

Nuju, Toa of Ice
Like most Ko-Matoran, Nuju spent his life working alone in a Knowledge Tower and trying to predict the future. Now he suddenly finds himself forced to team with other Toa and worry about the welfare of the entire city rather than just his small part of it. Instead of studying, he now has to act, and it is something he still has not adjusted to. He has no idea why Lhikan chose the six Matoran he did to become Toa ? it is certainly not the team Nuju would have picked!

Turaga Dume
Dume has been the Turaga of Metru Nui for as long as anyone can remember. He has always been a wise and fair leader. Lately, though, he has expressed concern that a great cataclysm was coming to the city for which he must prepare. He hasasked Vakama to make a Great Mask of Time, and has been spending more and more of his days closeted inside his chamber in the Great Coliseum.
