It narrates a personal testimonial on the experience of fight against a kind of cancer:cronic linfocitic lucemia. This desease is probably rare, according to the author, only two out of every two thousand persons aquire it, from here comes the title of thebook. The writer is dramatist and lawyer, throughout the book he narrates his emotions and sentiments of knowing hisdoctor and then change by treatment and hospitaliztion, so as to manage bills and the support of a number offamily members and friends. He tells us about what he has learnt and conclusions to which he has reached as a consequence to live this experience. In his case la writingwas a kind ofocupational therapy and the period of hospitaliztion was fruitful in this sense, as he had written plays,manuals of cinema and novels. He also dedicated himself to read and to be well informed of national and international events. He recieved an important nomination while he was hospitalized. In my case what seemed to me interesting of this book is the series of remembrences he makes about the books he read to understand what is cancer, why we get it and how boldly we should face it, for example, he mentiones it to his authors Susan Sontang, William Styron and Mauguerite Duras One can also see that the book is written honestly without any dimplomatic repairs: for example in case of replacement of deseases which are not duely trained about, so as anecdotes about some familiar who kept sleeping and snoring, or of how his visiting writer friends would have a different version of religion then his in a chat that they had. Neverthless in my personal opinion, this book can be prescindible. It also includes a bad taste for the persons who dont have political influences to deal with such kind of deseases, which is clear by mentioning selling off his properties which his friend Maria Rojo encashed in order to get his medicines, but i have to thank her as she has been very sincere in this respect.
