On The Paths Or The `grass Pushes Again
(hamsun,knut)

Publicidade
?On the paths where grass pushes again ? is the last book of Knut Hamsun but this is not a novel,he is only autobiographical writing left us.
It is written in 1945 when Hamsun was 90 years old and is shown of high treason, and intimate collusion with the Nazis.
It is imprisoned in the hospital, in an old people's home, a psychiatric private clinic and finally assigned at his home.
This book which he writes during his incarceration could let believe that he wishes to be justified on the eyes of the world but it's for nothing. This old man is completely indifferent with all ?these stories?, not that he denies no matter what is, simply because they do not interest him; the others can try to understand them. Elsewhere he has not doubt, Hamsun has well to affirm its admiration for Hitler publicly, he wrote articles and held of the speeches. But then, the old man would have lost the reason? According a report published in this period, Hamsun would be an old man with ?durably weakened mental faculties?
However by reading this book one can only note that this admirable author don?t lost anything of his liveliness, his talent and his literature qualities. It is with a youthful strength that Knut Hamsun tells the life in the hospitals, his promenades and problems of health. He makes only very fast allusions to the policy, there remains vague for the reasons of his arrest but in all the cases he does not show anything and no feeling transparent.
We can only reconnoiter this personality complex or mix pride, obstinacy, subtle irony but especially having great and disproportionate appetite of living.
This book is its last big work of the old writer
