"on Home In Czarnolas"
(Jan Kochanowski)

Publicidade
Trifle of Jan Kochanowski "On home in Czarnolas" is short, eight-verse creation - thirteensyllabic. The creation was written in the Czarnolas time, when Kochanowski settled down in Czarnolas village and decided to become steady there. He resigned from goods and church titles and got married with Dorota Podlodowska. Trifle is the effect of mature artistry of a poet. The author himself is a lyric subject. The receiver is God himself, what is shown by an apostrophe: "Lord, it is my work, and Yours occurence". The poet thanks for gifts, which he received from God, and he asks Him for further blessing. He knows that everything he achieved, he has got from Him. Kochanowski compares his simple life to ostentatious life of magnates. He sees his luck in this, without riches, splendour and luxury. Luck, which they will never achieve. In the last verses he asks God for providence over himself, for health, human kindness and peacefull, joyful old age. On the basis of this philosophically-reflective creation we can tell that Kochanowski appreciated peacefull, modest, virtous life in harmony with nature. He admired world of nature, which was for him the example of ideal harmony. He reffered to horacian philosophy, which told of principle of "golden mean", that is contenting oneself on peacefull, modest life and in that finding the true happinness of life. The poet was aware of the fact that earthly goods can pass, so he did not care about wealth and luxuries. The most important for him was faith and respect for tradition, which we count in to so called "antic virtue".
