My Best Friend's Girl
(Dorothy Koomson)

Publicidade
This book is written by a relatively unknown author who suprised me at her ability to make me feel as though I know the characters well. It is very well written and a good book to read although I did feel as though not a lot actually happened in it. It wouldn't be a suitable book for an action-loving person but someone who likes the kind of book which reflects real life.
The story is about two best friends who fall out after one of them not only sleeps with the other's fiance but has his baby also. Several years later, Kam recieves a card which is from her old best friend(Adele) informing her that she is dying and she would like to see her. Kam visits her friend and whilst there is asked if she will look after Teegan (the love child of her ex fiance) after Adele has passed away. At first Kam does not want anything to do with Teegan but once she pays her a visit she realises that it is the only thing she can do to make the years of not talking to her best friend forgiven.
The story continues to develop showing how Kam struggles not only with coming to terms with home truths about herself but also about what really happened between her best friend and true love. The relationship between Kam and Teegan gets stronger throughout the story and is portrayed by Koomson in a very touching way.
This book is thought-provoking and magical in the sense that you really start to love the main characters. Kam comes a long way throughout the book and you feel as though you have gone on the journey with her. A good girlie read.
