I,Robot is set in the future in a time that machines have been made to servfce man in many different capacities,everything in the future is automated programs control the functions of most things.Man has evolved and so have the machines they do almost anything from menial tasks to complicated intricate surguries using cybernetic life forms to enhance themselves and in short make life a littlre more enjoyable so it seems in the beginning.The main charecter is a police officer whose reputation proceeds him as a dedicated confident investigator,one of his mentors from the past sends him a holigraphic message asking him to investigate his own murder which he beleives will happen in his own furure and dispached this message in the event of his demise,prodding him to ask the proper question to access a further information stored within the holigraphic matrix which can only be triggered by asking the right question to evoke the proper response.This is confusing at first but as the story gathers momentum so does the mystery and the closer he comes to the truth the more dangerous it becomes several attemps are made on the lead charecter one most memerable scene's is a futuristic car chase through some kind of automated freeway,he is attacked by a truckload of worker drones being transported to a manifacturing facility,as the story starts to unfold a small glimpse of the detectives past keeps coming back to haunt him an accident in which he felt that the automated life form that could have saved the woman he loved did not respond quickly enough to save her life but the robots computes the probabilty of success he saves the detective instead because mathematiclly the odds were in favour of saving the detective his life was spared and he was equipped with a prostetic arm because his real one was so badly damaged.This is a deep seeded resentment for all atificial life forms corries with him yet he feels more compelled to ask the right question to gain access to the information,One robot has become self aware which is totally unheard of, he was a product of the victim he was given a multiprocesser unlike anything developed before he was capable of independant thought and had the abilities to control worker drones with a hivelike mind he attemps to eradicate the perceived threat.Mankind in his opinion has only produced him and others like him to do their bidding,once he realize's his creator's life has been cut short due to a terminal illness he takes matters into his own hands and as the last wish of his creator he feels duty bound to release him from a life of pian and anguish he commits the act,Self awereness come with a guilty concsense and he decides life with this burden is to great even for a machine and takes his own life.
