INTRODUCTION

The intention of Jose de Souza Martins is to unmask the rhythm of the forms of dissemination of the capitalism in Brazil, being refuted the affirmation that the crisis of the enslaved work resulted in the use of the wage-earning work. This book is divided in two parts. The author concomitantly carries through the research on the colonato with the research on the industrialization of São Paulo

DEVELOPMENT

In the first part, explicita in details the especificidade of the production relations that they configure in Brazil the regimen of work that came to be known as regimen of colonato.
It analyzes minutely this regimen in the economic, social, ideological levels and politicians, with empirical data and historical depositions also making a critical analysis of the works of studious on the related subject or with the same. Its basic concern is to understand the character capitalist of the coffee production, deciphering the contradiction it enters the capitalist bases of performance of the farmer and the not capitalist relations of production of the coffee.

It demonstrates that the colonato if characterized for the combination of three elements: ) the fixed payment for the treatment of the coffee plantation; b) proportional payment for the amount of harvested coffee and direct food production as half of life and as exceeding you commercialized for the proper worker; c) for not being the colonist an individual worker, but yes a familiar worker.

In the second part, he analyzes gênese of Brazilian industrialization and as the new involved social relations with this economic activity had been produced. Its intention is to emphasize some problems that imply in a new interpretation of the origin of industrialization in Brazil.
For bigger clarification of these social relations of production produced by the industrial activities, it analyzes in a general way the origins of the free work in Brazil. The region of the Brazilian southeastern coffee takes as unit of study, clearly leaving the difference between free work and wage-earning work. Or better, the author analyzes the difference between enslaved work, free work and wage-earning work in Brazil, with its ideological economic implications and politics.
He makes reference the importance of foreign immigration, over all the Italian, for the accomplishment of it I not only occasion industrial, but also of work d the regimen of colonato.

CONCLUSION

According to Jose de Souza Martins, by no means the colonato can be defined as one regimen of wage-earning work, as it comes being made for some authors. It affirms that the presence of the money in this regimen of work is that it overshadows for the researchers its real character.
The author is convicto of that it is the merchandise that gives a world-wide character to the capitalism and that the production system can produce not capitalist relations to assure its proper expansion.
During all work, they have the constant concern of raising problems to be studied on the boarded subjects.
