Psalms
(The Bible)

Publicidade
A Psalm is a song used for worship in the Bible, or to cry out to God in times of anger and despair. Psalms is the nineteenth book of the Hebrew Bible, and the translation used for this review is the New International Version. The Psalms is a book that should be read by everyone as it documents the human condition. Whether or not a person believes in the God of the Bible it is still possible to recognise one's own dilemmas in the words of the psalmist. More importantly the Psalms recognise the beauty of the world and the continuing joy of recreation. The Psalms are anti entropy if you like. They do not represent the earth as running down, rather they speak of a continuing creation.

Peace, or forgiveness is found in the Psalms but not before the writer has expressed his anger and lust for revenge. There are times when everyone calls down wrath on those they feel have wronged them, it's a safety valve and the Psalms are full of this very human trait. For those who do believe in God the Psalms often provide the greatest comfort and security, speaking of Divine love and care. The God of the Psalmist is an approachable deity, the essence of unconditional love.

Some of the best poetic terms in literature are to be found in the Psalms. All creation pulses with life in the words of the Psalmist. What is most evident in the Psalms is the humanity of the author, the loves, and hates, and rights and wrongs that permeate most of our lives. If you ever think that you're alone or that you're the only person in the world to have felt such agony or such anger then read the Psalms, and realise that this is not so.
