Of Mice and Men takes place in California, Salinas, the Unites State of America. It is about two friends, one of them is called Lennie who had a neurological problem( his mind had never learnt how to control his body), and George who was in charge of Lennie since Lenni's aunt Clara had died.
It was very difficult to get a job in those days. It was a time of depression in the U.S.A ,so that and as Lennie was accused of rape the two friends decided to move to Salinas where they both got a job in a ranch. There they were a lot of friends. Lennie as well as George had a dream in common, they wanted to have a farm and Lennie would be in charge of the rabbits.Lenni liked soft thing very much.
There was a turning point in the novel and it was when Lennie was with Curly's wife in the barn. Lennie liked storking softs things and as she was unhappy and very upset , Lennie tried to help her and he began to touch her hair and she felt so scared that she shouted, so Lennie coverd her mouth with his hand and broke her neck. Lennie knew that he had done something bad so he went back top the hiding place by the stream. Curly's wife body was found by Candy and he told George and the others. Curly wanted to kill Lennie but George killed Lennie before Curly did.
Lennie dide in happiness believing in his dream, George however, must face the miserable life and existence of a man who has no one to care for and a life in which no one cares for him. But it was necesary for George to kill Lennie so as Lennie wouldn not suffer naymore.
