The Magician's Nephew
(C.S. Lewis)

Publicidade
The Magician's Nephew is the first book in the chronicles of Narnia. It tells of how Narnia, which is a secret, magical place filled with enchantments and adventures, came to be. It takes place a long time ago, in London, England. The main characters, Polly and Digory, are two small children who come upon some magic rings that Digory's mad uncle made. His uncle, who is a horrible man who thinks he is a magician, tricks Polly into putting on one of the rings. Polly is sent to another world, and Digory has no choice but to follow. What follows is a magical story involving a witch from a dying land, a terrible crash involving a cabbie, and the accidental falling into a new world. Digory, Polly, the witch, and a few other people have been transported to Narnia, a place where anything can happen, and everything will surprise you. The only problem is that when Digory and Polly came and witnessed the birth of a new world, they brought with them the evil of an old one. The two children are put to the tasl when they are told by a magestic talking lion known as Aslan, that they must go on a quest to save the new land of Narnia from that evil. This is a story of love and perserverance, of making mistakes and fixing them, and of doing what's right, as opposed to what's easy. From a man who was close friends with the author of the Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien, I would have expected no less, and I for one, was not dissappointed!
