Code And Other Laws Of Cyberspace
(Lawrence Lessig)

Publicidade
CODE is a great read about, up to date issues, regarding the relationship between Law, Cyberspace and Social Organisations. Everyone today is becoming more aware of the need for security, privacy and regulation of the World Wide Web that will prevent such devastating effects that fraud and abuse can have on our Virtual Society. It has been argued that because of the way the World Wide Web was initially designed that it is impossible for the government to regulate such a massive media. Lawrence Lessig, previously a Professor at Harvard Law School, has published CODE arguing the whole concept of the World Wide Web being regulable, is true. The idea that the World Wide Web has a static existence is a fallacy. It is only made up of software and hardware that can be controlled with policies and procedures as well as encryption, personal identity and other important known/unknown future implementations to our Virtual World. The World Wide Web is constantly changing under the influence of commerce, becoming so regulable that it is even becoming more restricted than the Real World. It is also very interesting to read about the correlation between how Lawrence Lessig describes the Real World, verses the Virtual World. Other differences in governments have also been explained and how when an individual connects to the Virtual World, they have the ability to become free in ways that is either good or bad depending on the users? ethics. In the future you will see some questions being answered. Who is going to control and govern the World Wide Web? How future identification is going to be used? What methods of security will be in place to maintain such a controlled environment? Some light will be shed on these questions and more after reading CODE. Change is inevitable, it is going to take layers, policy makers and most importantly the users of the World Wide Web to make wise decisions into what our future will be when we access a technology that is a major contributor to our lives, in business and at home today. CODE And Other Laws Of Cyberspace is a superb read for any Computer Enthusiast or Computer Professional working in the Information Technology Industry. Lawrence Lessig, in my opinion is an excellent contributor to progress in the area of Information Technology, especially related to Networking and Security issues. His work is definitely informative as well as including diligent detail on particular topics, if your area of work or study is Security, I recommend reading this book to you. ISBN: 0-46-503913-8
