Little Women
(Louisa May Alcott)

Publicidade
America
during the 60s of the 19th century. I the homestead called Orchard House since
generations lives the March family. While the father is away, fighting the Civil
War, the only carer for the four adolescent daughters is their mother, Marmee.
Marmee is obviously ahead of her times, inculcating in her daughters the ideas
of freedom and independence and encouraging them to find their own place in
life by themselves. It is hard because they?re all different: Meg, the eldest
one has the most conservative outlook on life and she understands the role of
woman traditionally, wanting above all to be a wife and a mother. Jo is an individualist
with artistic inclinations, she has her first attempts at literature and a
fascination with theatre already behind her. Beth - a sensitive idealist dreams
of dedicating herself to the community service, which she proves by devotedly taking
care of one of the poorest families around. Beth will pay for her devotion with
her health, she will barely survive a hard disease. Nobody can expect that this
disease will reveal itself a few years later... The youngest sister, Amy is a romantic
with her eyes a little bit too much fixed on herself.

Besides
different, not always happy ways of life, the March family will stay together. The
family bonds connecting five women will turn out to be solid and stronger than temporary
breakdowns or concerns.
