Chinua Achebe tells a tale of life in Africa From its transition into after colonisation .The Europeans come across many cultural practices they don?t understand .The overzealousness of some missionaries brought a great confusion in a society that reposes on a caste system that is static .What was the influence of colonisation on African and the assessment of the European endeavours in Africa .The central character of the novel ,Okonkwo is an original Ibo man to the core who has faith in the belief system of his people .But Okonkwo unlike his contemporary has a different outlook about certain things and values that makes him to be the one odd out in his community with some regards to his father. He is polygamous and manages his household in a polygamous way . Chinua Achebe leads deep in the traditions of African about witchcraft and any thing related to the peoples? practices . What are the values dear to an African traditional society ?What happens with the Europeans coming in .How do people have to behave each according to sex age and status. We go through the rites of life with the author birth ,naming ceremony , adolescence , entry into adulthood , engagement , dance of the masquerades and then the process of a funeral .With Chinua Achebe ,we learn that in Africa traditions are sacred and it is a crime of paramount importance to defy certain rules and regulations .The wise in Africa have always made home for amendment in their rules making for the good of society. Things fall apart an insightful criticism of the influence of the colonisation on the life of Africans who have lost the focus on their ancestors thus the society is falling apart and with it many woes befall on the whole universe
