Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
(J.K. Rowling)

Publicidade
Harry is due to begin his second year at Hogwarts, but he is warned against returning, by a house-elf Dobby, since dangerous events are about to happen at the magical school. Harry is locked in his room by the Dursleys, but is rescued by Ron and his brothers. He stays at their home, the Burrow, for the rest of the summer, where he also discovers that Ron?s sister Ginny fancies him. Harry and Ron can?t make it to the Hogwarts Express and get to school in a flying car, where they smash into the Whomping Willow and Ron?s wand gets broken, causing devastation throughout the year. Their lessons begin as usual, but they have a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, the handsome and famous Gilderoy Lockhart, who is terrible at teaching. One day, Filch?s cat gets petrified and a message is left on the wall that the chamber of secrets has been opened and the heir of Slytherin is back. Harry and his classmates learn about the secret chamber built in the school by Salazar Slytherin himself, before leaving the school and that only his heir can open it and unleash the monster within, which will purge the school of all those who are not pure blooded. There are further attacks on students, who are Mudbloods (not pure bloods). Meanwhile, it also becomes known that Harry is a parselmouth i.e. he can talk to snakes and the entire school suspects him to be Slytherin?s heir. Hermione is attacked, Dumbledore gets suspended and Hagrid is arrested as a suspect. Harry finds a secret diary belonging to Tom Riddle, which proves to him that Hagrid opened the chamber of secrets fifty years ago, leading to his expulsion and the death of a student. Harry and Ron investigate further, narrowly escaping from giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest and discover that Hagrid was innocent. When Ginny is taken inside the chamber, they go to rescue her and learn that it was she who had opened the chamber, acting on the diary?s commands, since Riddle is in fact Lord Voldemort, who has preserved himself as a memory inside his diary. How Harry fights both Riddle and a basilisk to save Ginny?s life forms the climax of this tale. He also frees Dobby and learns certain facts about himself and Voldemort.
Rowling proves yet again with this second book of the series, that she is a master storyteller. She mixes up magic, adventure and fantasy, in a manner that only she can, simply fantastic.
