A November Tragedy
(Carla Parsons)

Publicidade
It was 2005 and everything was going great, when all of a sudden my whole life felt as if it came to an end. It was November 21st on a bright sunny day,my Chihahua named Tanner and I had went for a walk by the lake near my mothers house. Tanner was having the best day of his life it looked like as we went running beside the drifty lake. When we came back to my mothers house he was as hiper and happy as a dog could have been. "We're about to leave and I'm going to lock the door" said my mother, walking out of the house. So Tanner and I got into my truck and left for home. While riding down the road with the window cracked and the cold wind coming in, he sat upon my shoulder shivering while I smoked my cigarette. As we got closer to home I started having a weird feeling about something. We pulled into the yard and I let him out to use the restroom, little did I know what was going to happen next.As I looked through the truck for my door key that I had taken off earlier that day I heard a big growl.I jumped up and looked out the window and there in front of me about 50 yards away was a humongous black dog tearing my Tanner to shreds. My husband pulled right in the middle of it. I jumped out the truck and went running toward Tanner and the other dog. When I approached him, he was lying on the ground bleeding from one end to the other. I knew in my mind this would be the last time I would hold him alive. I rushed him in the house screaming at the top of my lungs and layed him on a blanket on the couch. My husband came in and grabbed him up and wrapped him in the blanket and headed to the vet. He died on the way and I was on the phone with my father, I believe when he took his last breathe because i felt a cold chill run through my body. I did not speak to anyone for at least the rest of November after that night. It had been such a big shock I didn't know how to take it right. If I could go back I would have never let him out,but I believe everything happens for a reason.
