Psalms
(The Bible)

Publicidade
Knowing that the prospect of going to an early grave is not particularly attractive to him, the Psalmist, in Psalm 28, exploits his link to the only One who can give him life more abundant. This is to try to get Him to act on his behalf. The way he does it is by making constant supplications to God. Specifically, he wants God to speak for him because he knows that once God speaks for him, he is assured of life. He prays asking God to break His silence otherwise the prospects for him are grim. He is actually implying that God does nothing but in answer to prayers. He knows he is as good as dead if God does nothing.

Also, the writer carefully distances himself from workers of iniquity as he is terrified of being grouped together with them. Certainly, he does not want to be found in their company. He even explains why he should not be treated the way these evil ones would be treated. He maintains that if the wicked are made to pay for their misdeeds, they would only be paying what they owe, a terrible judgement from on high. In any case, according to him, these are people who have betrayed the trust reposed in them by others and despise God not giving Him the glory He deserves for all His goodness and for His loving kindness. Hence, they deserve to be punished.

As for him, he believes he will be built up while the evil ones will be destroyed. He will be built up because God has answered his prayers and supplications. Being the strength of His people, he believes God would not leave him defenceless. Finally, he prays for the people of God who he sees as allies. He prays for their salvation, their sustenance and their promotion.
