Frodo Baggins has inherited the ring that would rule them all when his uncle Bilbo decided to pass it on to him as he is getting old. There are three wizards in this story. They are Sauron, the Dark Lord who ruled the Orcs, Saruman who used to be a good wizard and Gandalf, the Grey who is a friend of most. Gandalf learned about the powers of the ring and how it would bring evil to the one wearing it. The only way to unmake the ring is to throw it into the mountain of fire where it was created and it is deep into Sauron's territory. Gandalf and Aragorn were originally searching for the ring and when they captured Gollum, he admitted that he lost it to Bilbo. Now Frodo and Sam with the help of Merry and Pippin decided to disappear quietly from the Shire. They set off on a journey to reach the mountain of fire and Gandalf who is advising them decided that they should try to reach Rivendell first and meet him there. On their way when they stopped at an inn they met Aragorn and Frodo let him accompany them as instructed by Gandalf through a letter given by the innkeeper. By then the Black Riders of Sauron were already pursuing him as they saw him more when he wore the ring and they stabbed him on the shoulder. Aragorn was able to heal him temporarily until Glorfindel found them and helped then cross the river by drowning the Black Riders. Frodo was healed by Elrond completely. They found out that Gandalf was tricked by Saruman and imprisoned when he refused to reveal the whereabouts of the ring. He escaped from Orthanc when Gwaihir, the messenger eagle found him and bore him to safety. They stayed in Rivendell for wo months and Elrond called a meeting to decide who will accompany the ring bearer. They decided on Gimli,Legolas, Merry, Pippin, Boromir, Aragorn and Gandalf as their leader. Their journey was very hard and perilous and at one point it was snowing heavily and they encountered wolves which were scared off by Gandalf's magic of fire and an arrow from Legolas. After an unsuccesful attept to cross the snowy mountain of Caradhras, they decided to go through the mines of Moria. Gandalf could not figure out at first the magic word that would open the gate. Frodo was nearly pulled by a tentacled beast after Boromir threw a stone into the lake they crossed. The way inside was dark and dreary and when they were near the exit Ocs barred the way out. In the end Gandalf has to use his wizard powers to guard the door so they can flee. He ordered them to flee as Balrog's whip caught him and they fell together in the deep chasm. So in grief Aragorn led them after. It was hard going without Gandalf's power. They came upon the leves of Lorien and they know Aragorn and recognised Legolas as an elf. They met Galadriel and Celeborn and they catered to them and provided them with boats to go through until they have to walk to pass. Boromir became obsessed by the ring and tried to get it from Frodo. Frodo wore the ring and disappeared from him. He then decided to set off alone but Sam caught up with him and they set off in one of the boats leaving the others behind who knew by now what Boromir tried to do. Aragorn told Boromir to go after Merry and Pippin.
