Hosea is the first of the 12 minor profets. The book is wonderful, and it is the most beautiful one about God's love. It shows his great love for us. The book's story is about how Hoseas bought his wife in an auction! For many years I did not understand this because there's talk about prostitutes many times in this book. Nevertheless, I finally understood Hoseas' life and the whole book which has a beautiful message of God's deep and generous love for us. It occur that Hosea married Gomer and they had a son. But after that, Gomer had two other sons with other men and Hosea welcome them in his own home. What a great love and forgiveness Hosea had!... Then Gomer left Hoseas' s home for good and became a prostitute. However, she became old and end it up as a slave. Then, Gomer was auctioned off and Hosea bought his own wife in that slaves' auction. He took her home not as a slave , but as his wife, the lady of his home! What a great love! It was an enormous love! Then, later Hosea uses this story as an example for the kingdom of Israel and for us. When we sin while trusting others instead of God, we are prostituting ourselves like Gomer and we become Satan's slaves. Nevertheless, God loves us, buys us with his blood, and takes us home not as slaves, but as his children. Then, our souls are the wives of the lamb! we receive redemption like Holy spirit's temples; God's temples! And this happens everytime we sin!...How great is God!...What love He has!...Like Isaiah, Hosea means salvation, and salvation is the central message. Hosea prophesized in the North's kingdom, in Israel, Judah, the South kingdom, and for us...In the 8th century, the prophesy's gold! Amos was in the North. In the South, Judah, were Isaiah and MIcah. In Ninive was Jonah. Hosea prophesized for 40 years since 760 during Jeroboam's reign until the fall of Israel's capital, Samaria in 722. Hoseas presents Jesus Christs as our loving redeemer. Summary of the book: 1- Hosea's and God's family: Chapters 1-3. Israel's corruption: Chapters 4-5. 3- God's love rejected: Chapters 6-8. 4- God's punishment is inevitable: 9-10. 5- It is still possible to repent: Chapters 11-13. 6- The great promise!: God will redeem all who seeks him: Chapter 14. Read Hosea's book: When one understands it a little bit, is actually very beautiful. The summary in chapter 1:9 of the whole book it's given in the name that Hosea gave to his third son, Loammi, that means, not a friend. However, God is going to atract his people with love and punishment until they become Amni which means God's friend, Chapter 3:24. The first three chapters are an account of Hosea's previous, and a little disorganized way of life. In chapter 3:2 he bought his wife for 15 gold coins and this is the same amount that judas received for betraying Jesus!...When you read this you will see that God never abandoned Gomer to her prostitution. Instead, he followed her, creating a barrier of thorns around her way and building walls in her roads so that she cannot reach her lovers. Then, she would have to say "I am going to go back with my first husband. Chapter 2:6-7 is similar to the story of the lost sheep and the prodigal son in Luke 15. However, this is bigger! God is after Gomer making things sour for her and her lovers. God is making her suffer and is allowing her to become poor and ugly until she realizes what she lost and goes back with her first husband. This is the same situation that occurs when we sin. We prostitute ourselves, but God continues to love us and is with us. He tries to detour us with high crosses, with problems, and even illness. These sufferings that we receive from God are loving caresses and it is not bruces that kill; it is a healing shot! This is how much He loves us! Chapter 11 ends by saying that God's heart beats faster and his womb trembles just thinking about losing us. This is not because we are lost, but because the mere thought of losing us! You will see in chapternot very clear. Sins, punishment, rewards; chapters 4 to 13 expose the sins of Israel and ours! The purifying punishments that God sends and the certainty of the redeeming and healing promise with the reward in chapter 14. God says " I will heal their rebelliousness and I will love them generously" (14:5). This is directed primarily at the 12 tribe North kingdom and Israel. However, because Efraim was the biggest tribe, sometimes he adresses the tribe by the name of Efraim instead of Israel.
