This book is a direct attack upon the system of slavery that existed in the Sothern States of USA . It did much to form public opinion in the US against slavery , which was ultimately abolished as a result of the war between Northern and Southern States in 1861-65 . This book predominantly deals with the horror and inhumanity of slavery . Stowe''s criticism of the practise is overt . Slavery naturaly destroys family backgrounds . It makes people fight against each other .
